Who We Represent

Since 1908, we have represented builders, plumbing & heating, timber and other merchants who distribute building materials, home improvement products, renewable energy equipment and civils & drainage systems. In more recent years we have strengthened collaboration across the supply chain with an increased focus on product suppliers and service providers.

Together, our members form an impressive network of over 1000 businesses across the UK and Ireland.

As a sector, we are vital to construction: buildings & structures (especially housing) are not erected - nor are properties (especially homes) converted, extended, repaired, maintained or improved - without the primary materials and valued-add products that our members make, stock and deliver.

BMF room hire

Did you know that we have meeting rooms available to hire at the BMF Head Office?

Our rooms are ideal for meetings, training sessions and small events. Each room is equipped with new, modern technology to support presentations, hybrid meetings and collaborative working.

On-site parking is available and a selection of catering and refreshments are available to pre-order. Parking includes EV charging points and we have 10 charging points (10kw) which need to be activated using a fob that can be requested at BMF reception. They are not available to pre book and whilst they are free for members and visitors, any donation to help cover the increasing cost of utilities is gratefully received.

To find out more or make a room booking, please email us via the button below.

Maddie Rose Foundation

Honours Maddie's life and legacy by inspiring and supporting young people to explore careers in the construction, merchanting and supplier sectors.

Since joining forces with Construction Youth Trust (CYT), the Campaign has raised vital funds that have helped young people overcome barriers and realise their career potential in the built environment. In just four years, more than 60,000 young people have been supported through CYT’s careers inspiration programmes.

Beyond fundraising, the merchanting sector has played a pivotal role by working with the CYT team to create engaging resources and work experience opportunities that introduce young people to the industry’s many hidden careers.
