John Newcomb has led the BMF, the trade association for the building materials supply chain, since 2012. Under his leadership, the BMF has developed a member-centric culture and launched initiatives that expanded its relevance, membership, and influence, establishing it as the voice of the Building Materials Industry. In 2020, John joined the Construction Leadership Taskforce, collaborating with government and trade bodies to coordinate the industry’s COVID-19 response, ensuring members’ concerns were heard. His work earned recognition from Business Leader Magazine as one of 32 top Business Heroes during the crisis. John was shortlisted for Chief Executive of the Year at the Association Awards UK in 2015 and 2016, and for IoD Director of the Year in 2017. He was granted the Freedom of the City of London and admitted to the Worshipful Company of Builders Merchants in 2016.
