It ensures candidates understand the impacts of poor health and safety management and understand what is expected of the industry in terms of safe working methods.

Who is this training for?:
The course is designed for merchant/supplier managers and key people with supervisory/management roles within the branch and senior/warehouse operatives who are key to safe operations in the branch.

Objectives:
The course aims to give knowledge and awareness of the highest risk common hazards found in the yard and warehouse environment and how these would be dealt with. It ensures candidates understand the impacts of poor health and safety management and understand what is expected of the industry in terms of safe working methods. Candidates will understand the importance of reporting poor practice and enforcing site safety rules. Opus will cover recent merchant and supplier case law to highlight key failures that have led to serious accidents.

Learning Aims To provide an understanding of the following:
Health and Safety Law – understanding applicable law and duties.
How to identify key high risk hazards in a builders merchant environment.
Understand the risk assessment process.
Detailed understanding of the expected control measures in merchants.
Understanding the consequence of serious accidents in a merchant.
How to monitor and select appropriate monitoring methods e.g. accidents.

Course Duration and Assessment:
One day course and assessment via a short multiple choice style test where delegates will submit their answer to the trainer via a message system.

The cost of the course is £300 + VAT
