BMF’s sustainability working group update

The BMF’s sustainability working group announces the launch of the Building Materials industry's first ‘state of sustainability in the sector' report and also our member research results.

AVAILABLE NOW.

The BMF’s sustainability working group was founded in 2022, with the overall aim of accelerating the transition to more sustainable building materials.

It is now launching two industry firsts as significant phase 1 outputs:

  1. State of sustainability in the Buildings Materials sector – report and guidance for BMF members
  2. State of sustainability within BMF membership company’s - research results

The reports are for Members Only and you must be logged in to view them.

The working group consists of a team of leading sustainability specialists in the Building Materials sector and provides best practice guidance, support and advice, designed to help BMF members become more socially and environmentally responsible in how they operate.

We hope that this ‘state of play’ report and research helps to demystify the subject and provides some useful pointers for all BMF members, wherever you are on your journey, to a more sustainable future.

Accelerating the transition to more sustainable building materials

“There is a lot of information available on sustainability, which is a complex topic. It is not easy to understand what makes a product more sustainable nor how to sell more sustainable products. The output of this review will orientate BMF members to sustainability and practical actions to take to accelerate the transition to more sustainable building materials. It will also provide direction on how to practically set a baseline for adoption against which to measure the transition of more sustainable building products. This research and report will highlight the importance of providing information and guidance that enables customers to make clear, accurate and informed decisions about sustainability”.
