Master Merchant is a weekend team competition open to all companies in the building supplies industry. It's demanding, and great fun too. It involves a series of mental and physical problem-solving exercises such as code breaking, map reading, logic problems, climbing/abseiling, clue trails and other tasks designed to test your creativity.

Who is eligible to enter?

A team consists of any four people - male, female, counter staff or Managing Directors! Teams can represent a whole company, a region, area or branch.

Is there an age limit?

Master Merchant is designed for entrants who are over 18 and everyone has an equal chance of winning.

The heats and final

These begin when teams assemble on the friday evening. The events begin proper on saturday morning running through to sunday lunchtime. There are a variety of exercises demanding both physical and intellectual skills.

The prizes

Every competitor will receive a framed certificate on survival of their heat. There will be trophies for all finalists and the winners of the Grand Final will receive the prestigious Master Merchant trophy.

Entry fee

The fee to enter a team of four is just £798 + VAT which includes accomodation, all meals and necessary specialist equipment. Supporters may attend for an additional fee, subject to availability of accomodation. Entry fees will be non-refundable if a cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to the event.

The event usually take place throughout June to August each year.
