BMF Management Qualifications
The BMF offers Management Qualifications at NVQ Levels 3 through the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

These qualifications are designed for supervisors and managers who wish to progress through the Builders Merchants sector, either into a Managerial position or as career enhancement to their current role.

The Level 3 NVQ in Management is for line managers who have decision-making responsibilities within defined limits and wider responsibility for people and their performance and also assess their knowledge and understanding of key management activities. It also gives managers an opportunity to develop their performance in their job to become more effective and to progress their career.

Learners are required to take seven units: four mandatory units plus three out of a choice of 11 optional units.

What are NVQ's?
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's), show that people are competent at their jobs.  They are based on nationally recognised occupational standards, which clearly describe what is expected within various occupations.  In the case of NVQ's in management, this means describing the outcomes of competent performance in the role, and the behaviours and underpinning knowledge and understanding that are necessary for those outcomes to be produced.

What are the benefits?
The individual benefits because:

You can build on your strengths and focus training and development on the areas in which you need to improve, not wasting time studying things you already know
You can prepare for your qualification to fit in with your work and personal commitments and adjust your plans in the light of your progress and contingencies
You receive an ILM certificate recognising your competence as a manger

Organisations benefit because:

They have the confidence in their managers
Their training costs are reduced, as training becomes clearly focused on what managers need to perform effectively and develop their careers
Management training and qualifications clearly link to other activities, such as performance appraisal, coaching, recruitment and reward schemes
Communication improves as managers begin to use a common language and an empowering culture develops

Current registration costs are available on request from the BMF Training Department. For further information, please contact Nina Royle on 020 7534 7421.
